Double-slit time diffraction at optical frequencies

چکیده

Double-slit experiments—where a wave is transmitted through thin double aperture in space—have confirmed the wave–particle duality of quantum objects, such as single photons, electrons, neutrons, atoms and large molecules. Yet, temporal counterpart Young’s double-slit experiment—a interacting with modulation an interface—remains elusive. Here we report time-domain version classic experiment: beam light twice gated time produces interference frequency spectrum. The ‘time slits’, narrow enough to produce diffraction at optical frequencies, are generated from excitation film indium tin oxide near its epsilon-near-zero point. separation between slits determines period oscillations spectrum, whereas decay fringe visibility reveals shape slits. Surprisingly, many more visible than expected existing theory, implying rise that approaches cycle. This result enables further exploration time-varying physics, towards spectral synthesis waves applications signal processing neuromorphic computation. A experiment shows characteristic domain when interacts produced by ultrafast changes refractive index material.

Loss of coherence in double-slit diffraction experiments

Coherence is an important building block in physics, common to optics and quantum mechanics. In classical optics, it simply implies a phase condition related to interference. Its lack is related to the nature of the source of light snonmonochromaticityd and/or the geometrical shape of the objects placed on the source-detector pathway f1,2g. In this sense, incoherence can be regarded as a “nondy...

Pseudoscopic imaging in a double diffraction process with a slit.

Pseudoscopic images that keep a continuous parallax are shown to be possible due to a double diffraction process intermediated by a slit. One diffraction grating acts as a wavelength encoder of views while a second diffraction grating decodes the projected image. The process results in the enlargement of the image under common white light illumination.

Cloaking at Optical Frequencies

2 The ability of rendering objects invisible using a cloak – not detectable by an external observer – for concealing objects has been a tantalizing goal 1-6. Here, we demonstrate a cloak operating in the optical regime. The cloak operates at a wide bandwidth and conceals a deformation on a flat reflecting surface, under which an object can be hidden. The device is composed of nanometer size sil...

Single-slit split-ring resonators at optical frequencies: limits of size scaling.

We present magnetic metamaterials composed of 35 nm minimum feature-size gold split-ring resonators with a fundamental magnetic resonance at a wavelength of 900 nm. Corresponding calculations reveal excellent agreement with the experiments and show that the limits of size scaling have been reached.

Psychophysical interactions with a single-photon double-slit optical system

Six experiments were conducted using a single-photon double-slit apparatus to test von Neumann's notion that the quantum wavefunction is “collapsed” by what he called a psychophysical interaction. Individuals were asked to direct their attention toward or away from the optical system while receiving information about the number of photons arriving per second at an interference fringe minimum. O...
